Indeed. For all of the talk about short-term deflation, I'm more concerned with long-term inflation.

TIPS are figuring heavily in my portfolio right now.

With the US gov't printing money like the mint's on fire, I'm really surprised more people aren't.

There was even an article in the Times this morning praising deflation!

Finding good news in falling prices

I was looking around for values of various currencies in the post discovery period when I came across this site. Do you think the "right" will have a heart attack that there was no dollar?

This website is obviously a left-wing fabrication, probably by terrorists intent on destroying our way of life. We all know that there has always been, and will always be, the dollar.

And now I'll keep my mouth shut before we all get shipped off to the wasteland of OMNI P/R.

Something to consider:

Quote:
Writing on his blog , Prof Buiter said: "There will, before long (my best guess is between two and five years from now) be a global dumping of US dollar assets, including US government assets. Old habits die hard. The US dollar and US Treasury bills and bonds are still viewed as a safe haven by many. But learning takes place."
About 2-3 years ago, I would have expected the collapse to come in 10-20 years, not in 8 or less.

Unfortunately when I go visit my parents in the States I can't afford to be quite so generous anymore.
