Apr 30, 2021With all the silly restrictions these days, and a long flight looming (United; Denver to Hawaii), we want to make sure we're stocked on enough food. I assume they serve drinks a few times during the flight.
Can you buy to-go from all the concourse places and take the aboard? (Isn't that a liquid???! AAAHHHHH) Any problems you've encountered?

Liquids that are purchased in the 'sterile' (read: after you clear security) area are permitted onboard - so you shouldn't have any problem

I wonder if I bring a subway sub if they would have issue with a tiny container of sauce that could go with it. Once on the sandwhich it is kinda considered part of the SOLID, but if it is still in that little plastic cup thingy, it could be looked at as in the same category as a tiny bottle of hand cream or liquid shampoo or soap. Would they stop me for HOW I wish to eat my food? (not putting the sauce on til I want to eat it, or something?)
Also, I think there SHOULD be a rule against overly pungent foods. Imagine if the guy next to you has like really bad breath cuz he just ate something that stunk up the whole cabin?

As long as the little cup of fluid for your sandwich is under three ounces, I would think they'd let it through as long as it fits into the baggie with your other fluids. I've taken a bunch of energy gels through security before - I was able to get about six of them into a quart-sized baggie.
I'd make sure to let them know it was there so they take care if they want to look closely at the baggie - those lids usually aren't tight.
