Talking Why do so many people hide adult-oriented magazines behind drawers in hotel rooms?

Why do so many people hide adult-oriented magazines
behind drawers in hotel rooms?

That'a a question I been wondering about for years.

It all started when I started staying at hotels for
business a dozen years ago. In the worst year('98),
I had the "pleasure" of spengind 110+ days in hotel rooms
in various cities. I'd rather sleep in my home, but my
company sends me all over the place...

Anyway... back to my original question. I don't remember
where or what hotel it was, but it was one of those big
downtown hotels. I was getting my things together for
check-out and one of my shirts fell behind the space behind
the drawers. I pulled the drawer completely out to retrieve
my shirt and that's when I noticed a couple of magazines
back there. They turned out to be really explicit adult-
oriented magazines. Don't even remember what the names
were...

That was 10 years ago. Ever since then, it has become a
habit of mine to pull out the drawers in hotel rooms just to
see what's hidden in there. Yes, I know it is a borderline
compulsive behavior, but when you spend as many nights
in hotel rooms like I do, you know that it gets extremely
boring. Wanna know where I typed this message? Yes, you
guessed right... I'm in a hotel room right now...

In my past experience, I have discovered adult magazines
50% of the times. It doesn't make any difference if it's
a regular room at the Courtyard in a small town or a junior
at the Grand Hyatt in a major city. I've found these mags
in all of them. I seriously doubt any housekeeping staff
would pull the drawers all the way out to clean the space
behind them...

What kind of people would just throw these mags back
there? Not to mention the fact that who buys adult mags
anymore? There's tons and tons of material on the internet
these days. I haven't bought a Playboy since I was 18 and
that was a LONG LONG time ago...

What about the trash can? It's there for a purpose, right?

Oh well... sorry about making this post longer then I had
intended. Just wanted to see if I'm the only one who has
noticed this...

I've found them there too. Never looked behind the drawers, though. Maybe I should start?

Maybe because no one wants the maid to find out what they've been doing and that they were doing it alone??

Note to self: start checking behind drawers in hotel rooms. DH and I could save a lot of money on in-room movies.

If you stay at hotels frequented by airline crews: they have two standard hiding places for porn.

1. Between the box spring and the mattress.

2. In bathrooms with false ceilings. In the bathroom, directly above the toilet, push the panel up and over and you'll likely find a stash there.

I'm sure that pilots are just bored and only read the articles.

Very good!
As a tech for a PPV provider in hotels I can add to the items in the back of drawers.
Sometimes I need to remove power supplys from the dresser that the tv is mounted on. In certain hotels you have to remove the drawers to get to the PS.
After 9 years of doing this, here are some of the things I have found.

Porn Mags
Condoms(still packaged)
Hair clips, combs and brushes.
Clothing
sex toys
rolling papers
marijuana
small pint size bottles of booze.

I think people hide them because they dont want to take them home
and they dont want the housekeeping staff to find them either(but they do).
Its probably a shame thing as to why they hide them instead of leaving them
out like I have seen in some rooms when I go to work in rooms that are already checked out. If your into looking for items you can also check on top of the drawers if they are real high or behind the dressers if they are low.

just a little off topic diversion.
Once at the Airtel hotel by the van nuys airports I was working on the rooms that the terminals were not communicating with the main computer and was going room to room to get these rooms working.
I had finished the entire hotel and had every room working except one
which had a D&D sign(do not disturb).
I stopped by the next day and it was still D&D.
by the third day of stopping by I asked and engineer if he could call the room
to see if we could get in the room just to check the box and make sure everything was working.
After no answer we went to the room and knocked on the door and no one answered.
We went inside to find the messiest room I had ever seen.
Pizza boxes and other food containers were thrown around the room, the place was a disaster as pillows from the bed and couch were strewn everywhere.
Sex toys, lotions, magazines and videos were all over the place.
I was amazed at how this customers room was.
We fixed the box and left within 5 min.
What a mess.

I think it's kind of like the hostel/ travellers library concept. Take a porno, but be sure you leave porno.
