Why do so many people hide adult-oriented magazines behind drawers in hotel rooms?

1 large piece of paper with hotel addresses written on it

I'm not looking between the mattress and box spring
Darn, you lucked out! I'm jealous. My Hampton this week has a big fat nada hidden in the drawers and under the matress. But last time I was at this one someone had left an unopened frozen burrito in the freezer portion of the room's refrigerator. I chose not to have it and instead left it for the next guest to find.

But I did find a matchbook from a bar in Atlanta with a woman's name, phone number, hotel, and room number written inside it in my rental car yesterday. So I guess I don't feel so left out.

Now that I've read this, I think I'm going to be checking under the drawers everywhere I go out of curiousity.

I just moved the desk in the Sheraton here in HSV, nothing good underneath but it did completly fall apart. I guess I'm not the first one that needed a couple more feet of network cable (port mounted in side of desk). One empty zip lock bag under dresser drawer - gallon size. Appears unused.

Does this count? While cleaning out long vacant offices in my company, I found at least $30 in change and bills and $5000 in uncashed old checks from 2001! Nothing juicy, though. P.S. We are getting the checks re-issued.

It might be a good idea not to call her

Exclamation

Aww damn. Ok now I'm going to go hunting through the room every time I check into a hotel. And I'm in a hotel every week for work. Thanks, see what you're making me do

Actually, anything to make the tedious grind of business travel slightly more entertaining is welcome...

Maybe we should have a "Look what I found" thread, not just for porn.

So far, 2 hotels and no luck

The one time I actually found porn was in a Crowne Plaza in Amsterdam. As a young innocent at the time I honestly wondered whether it was a hotel provided amenity

Bob and Tom

Syndicated radio hosts Bob & Tom (and especially sidekick Chick) advocate leaving pornographic material between the matress and box springs of hotel rooms. This may be contributing to some of the "finds" noted here.

Okay, I've never looked or desired to look but I was in Austin for business once and my coworker pulled out the nightstand drawers in her room for some reason. She found a bra and a full, unopened bottle of wine. Hmm...

I guess I may look now but that's kind of gross. It's like what I don't know won't hurt me. If I actually look under the mattress and find magazines I don't think I want to touch them. So then when I'm trying to go to sleep all I'll be able to think about are the potentially soiled magazines I'm sleeping on.

Oh, and thanks eastwest for mentioning the bathroom hiding place too because now I suppose I'll be climbing up on the toilet to check. I'll probably fall and break my neck eventually and then the hotel staff will find me on the bathroom floor with dirty magazines spread around me.

Are you guys sure you want to be handling used porno magazines left by somebody, or many somebodies, once they are done with them?

I don't think I would.

I found hotel room treasure too! Embassy Suites, Charlotte, NC. Behind the nightstand drawer...an unopened pack of Marlboro Lights!

Should I start smoking now?

Dang, now that the secrets out there won't be any treasures left for me to find - you guys will have cleaned out every hotel dresser and box spring.

I would definitely not unstick the pages, even if their being stuck together suggests that's where to find the good stuff.
