I've HAD IT! How to get GDS access and do my own travel bookings?

I'm fed up... I've had it with futzing with Expedia and other sites trying to get mileage runs priced out, toying with it over and over to get the right routing and carrier combinations only to have it come back with idiotic carrier choices and brainless routings that cause what should be a $4k fare to come back as $39,000 in one case!!!

Ok, so how do I get direct access to a CRS so I can construct my own itineraries leg by leg, price 'em and ticket them? What do I do? I'm hopeful NEVER EVER to have to use a mainstream website again.

I'd love to know also. It would be great to have direct access to a booking system.

It doesn't seem THAT difficult to me...? Am I missing something?

And yes, I've managed to book a couple of MRs already... including a 10-leg LAX-DUB trip, using only ITA and AA.com (plus a quick call to AA.com CSR).

Also now looking at my local community colleges for classes.... I'm guessing you have to be certificated?

After you've managed to book your first trip using GDSpeak you'll be begging for a mainstream website...

"My Sabre"

I am not a travel agent, but signed up for a sabre system. It works GREAT! It is an actual travel agent system. Check out http://www.sabretravelnetwork.com/pr...sp2_007761.htm

Once it is installed, the log in is https://my.sabre.com

It costs me $47.98 per month. The system runs on my laptop (so I can use it on the road). Well worth the $47.98 per month. You will need to learn basic travel agency booking codes (like a real travel agent), but their web site has lots of good info on how to do this.

You say the $47.98 is well worth it. What would you say the benefits have been and how do you justify the $47.98 (CBA)?

Are you able to ticket? Did you become ARC or do you ticket through someone else?
