The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints never states what corporations it does or does not own stock in, so how do you know that the LDS Church owns any Marriott stock? In any event, the whole "guilt-by-association" argument is specious.
I guess the "association" is that Marriott hotels come with a bible and a book of mormon, the only hotel chain that I know of that does this.

The Marriott family are members of the LDS church. I don't know if the church owns stock in the hotel chain, but it doesn't necessarily follow.
Count me with those who oppose banning porn in hotel rooms, though I'm OK with having it accessible only through a couple of menu levels - one of which has a prominent notice about how to ban it. Yes, maybe once in a while a bit will slip through, but it's far from the worst thing (IMHO) on TV these days. If you look at the potential harm of seeing a bit of sex versus the potential harm of violence and murder - where is the sense of proportion among those who spend so much time crusading against sex? In the case of politicians, they seem to be using this as a distraction from more serious national issues. When it comes to individuals, I think they need perspective.
What you have to understand is there is a very large part of the population in this country that thinks that their grandparents rode dinosaurs to school and that the earth was made 6k years ago. They don't want anyone to do anything fun ever. People can go ahead and protest all they want though. The hotels aren't going to take away their #1 source of in room revenue.
One would assume that while routinely scrolling through tv channels, you could EXPECT to see TV preachers, Jerry Springer, political rantings, inane commercials, but should one expect to see hard core porn?
To be honest I'd rather watch hardcore porn than listen to TV preachers. I also suspect that in the long term the former is easier on the pocket too.
To answer the OP's question. No!

No kidding. I was literally watching a televangelist show last week where the 'preacher' was telling teh people watching how they needed to donate money so that the assembly could maintain its use of a private jet. They needed $7 million to do so. Last time I checked Jesus was a poor jewish boy. It's funny how the people who now worship him are so materialistic. I was simply horrified that person was going to suck money out of the pockets of the elderly to pay for his big 700 hours of travel a year that required him to have a jet.
Hopefully he'll die in some way where he won't have a chance to repent so he'll have to pay back that $7M in a nasty way.

speaking of pornography, what's going to be done about all of those bibles in the hotel rooms? there's a whole lot of "begetting" going on in that book. and don't even get me started on the songs of solomon...

What is your opinion about this?
I don't care one way or the other, although unless they ban high speed internet it's not exactly going to solve the intended problem (whatever that may be).
Well a slight diversion - someone recently asked me what would happen if they brought a porn dvd on the plane and watched it on their portable dvd player? I really didn't know the answer!
