Not sure I can help, but for anyone to help, you need to be more specific: What do you mean by a "decent price"; i.e., what class of hotel? Also, Tokyo is a huge city, where do you need to be located?

Accomodations in Tokyo range from the Kimi Ryokan at the low end to the Four Seasons Maronouchi at the high end -- or would a capsule hotel do?

If you're willing to roll the dice, you can arrange accomodation after you arrive. If you go to the travel office in any large JR (Japan Railways) station, they'll be able to arrange same-day accomodations for you. You tell them what you're looking for, and they'll take care of you. In the major Tokyo stations, they're certain to speak at least a little English. They can book you confirmed space in nearby hotel in their computer, and they'll call ahead if there's any question of availability. You can pre-pay at the station, and they'll give you a voucher to give to the hotel.

If you are staying for a week or more, you might want to consider a "weekly mansion" or weekly rental apartment. You can get one starting from US$400 a week.

if you search the very active Asia forum below and search for Tokyo, there are a few good websites quoted.

There is a Priceline based out of Hong Kong and I believe they do have Tokyo hotels available.

Check out http://www.mytrip.net

Click the English tab and then choose dates and Japan as the area.

Then choose Tokyo from the map by clicking the dark pink Tokyo part.

Then choose Central Tokyo from the hotlinks at the top of the map.

Then choose the area of Tokyo and VOILA!!! Super cheap Japanese hotels.

It is a site run by Rakuten and is the Japanese favorite for cheap hotels. Works for flights also.

Ganbatte!
