Best way to get from Dulles to Georgetown
I am soon going to Washington DC (flying from London, arriving around 1400 local time) and need to get to my hotel close to Georgetown. What is the best way to do this at this time? I will probably only have one laptop bag and a suitcase

The best way would be in a limo stuffed with playmates.
Other than that, you have the usual Washington Flyer taxis that cost around $40. That would be fastest. Or a shuttle bus which carries other passengers to nearby hotels for maybe $20 or so.
No airport train in our nation's capitol.

Which hotel? Because "close to Georgetown" can mean a couple different things, changing the instructions.
There's no Metro stop in Georgetown, but if "close to" means across the Key Bridge in Georgetown, or it means Foggy Bottom, then one way to do it would be to take the Washington Flyer Bus to the West Falls Church metro station ($8) and catch the Orange line train (the only one that runs from that station) to either Rosslyn or Foggy Bottom (~ $1.50).

Hi,
Agree with gleff for a cheap way as long as the hotel is not too far from the metro.
Regards
TBS

A search in WAS airports, which is where this thread belongs, has the answers.
Also, you probably will not arrive at your hotel before 1700 and maybe later, unless it is a very slow day at IAD, and CD traffic.

There's a bus that will take you from Dulles to Rosslyn, Virginia, just across the river from Georgetown.
The bus number is 5A and it leaves from curbsite 2E at Dulles. It costs $2.50.
More information (schedules, etc.) is at:
www.wmata.com
A cab from Rosslyn would be pretty cheap.

Precisely the reason I like DCA and try to avoid IAD

Yeah there is.. If you don't find it, it's because you are at the wrong airport.

Yes, but fbgdavidson is coming from London direct. DCA isn't really an option for foreign visitors unless they want to transit another airport (ugh).
