Never been on or seen a bus at Canadian hubs in Toronto and Vancouver. Airliners are all boarded by jet bridge and turboprop and smaller RJs board from an area with tarmac level gates (you walk to the plane).

LAX was the exception. I think now they have enough gates to accommodate everybody.

Here's a story about why mobile lounges came about.

Only place I've bussed in N. America was in mobile lounge at PHL.

PHL? How long ago was that? I don't think I've seen them in any US airport except IAD.

Interesting read. I never knew that the moon buggies at iad were originally conceived as a solution to the "walking long distances" problem. I would appreciate modern bus gates a lot more if they were extremely close to check-in. But, this is rarely the case when flying out. At SZX, for example, the bus gate waiting area is a solid 1000 meters from the check-in area.

I actually prefer being bused at FRA as the drop off point is significantly closer to the arrivals area than many of the gates.

Very early in the century. Offloaded US longhaul flights on one ($600 SEA-Europe in BC fares ). Was rather surprised that they were there.

Thisthread seems to indicate they were used until C. 2003.

UTH

UTH has one gate bridge and 21 daily flights.
No gate available it's walking to/from the plane in 35C but when it rains you get an umbrella.

I get lucky, landing 10x/year, hardly ever have to walk

how about only bus gates

Zagreb only has bus gates; all planes are out on the tarmac. they are building a new terminal which is supposed to open next year, but until then, the only way to get to the plane is via bus. Actually, it's not too bad. And for the A320 and B737 models, they always use both the front and rear doors, so it goes pretty quickly both getting on and getting off. And the buses drop off at either passport control (for international flights) or the transfer desk/baggage claim (for domestic flights) so arrivals are quick and easy. all in all it's a very nice airport to navigate.

You jogged my memory. I do seem to recall being bused coming off a BA flight in the mid 90s.

Well, if you take worldwide scale, there are plenty of airport in Asia with bus only. Siem Reap and Langkawi comes into mind.

I'd much rather be bussed than wait for a gate to open.

Of course, there are plenty airports (like AMS) where you can combine the experience...

I've taken buses at ORD. Although that was quite a few years ago.
