Buying luxury goods - Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore, or HK?
When it comes to luxury goods prices, where is the lowest of these places? Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore, or Hong Kong? Assuming prices are measured in USD.

Yea I asked before using the euro. But my friend asked me how the prices compare vs HKD, which is pegged to the USD so I thought I'd consult the experts here.

I'm in HK now and stopped by Tod's yesterday to look at shoes. I was surprised to see the shoes were about 2x the price of what I normally pay in London. And that a briefcase I bought recently at Dunhill was about 50% more. That said all I needed to know about the level.

So I guess in that list BKK and SIN are the best choices? I know SIN is trying to set themselves as a shopping destination since there's not much else going on there...
Really not Dubai though? I for some reason thought there was no import tax.

I'm in BKK right now, some big brand items are cheaper here (about 7%) than online for the US website. If you include VAT refund, it's even cheaper. I don't suspect Dubai and HK will be much if any cheaper than the US considering their import tax and the fact that their currencies are pegged to the dollar.
