Did AA ever fly the 747 to Latin America? If they did then I may have flown it when I was a wee lad.

Other than that I can't think of any. The Mad Dogs, 737s, 757s, 767s, and 777s are all in service. The RJs I've flown are still in service. The Q400 is still in service with UA (that was a fun flight!).

My list is way too long, so I'll just post the semi-interesting ones (to me, anyway):

- TWA 727, L-1011, 747 (presumably an original -100 series), DC-9

- Eastern DC-9, 727

- Midway 737. You could buy an MCI-MDW ticket for about $20. Cash accepted. At the airport... It was basically a bus with wings.

- Vanguard 727, no real interior or exterior markings. Obviously the plane was leased from someone else, but this one had the feel that they were renting it for a day

- AA F-100 in an all-F configuration. Used for a short period of time around 2000 one DAL-LAX, DAL-ORD, and DAL-LGA (I think). All F onboard service at normal ex-DFW coach prices. AA did it to kill off some DAL startup airline. It worked, and once the startup was dead, those routes went away. Sad, really. Lobster quesadillas, a bottle of wine to myself, and basically infinite seat pitch was a nice way to fly to ORD.

- Reno Air MD-90. It had about 8 rows of F, and gate upgrades were $50 and usually available. Not a bad ride at all, although I remember on my last Reno flight before the AA buyout, service was terrible. Apparently the various unions were fighting over terms of their mergers.

- Midwest Express. Flew all of their types at one point or another, but the semi-interesting one was the Fairchild-Dornier 328JET. I remember flying it to Duluth once late at night, and the other interesting little regional jet sitting nearby was a Northwest Avro.

I do miss those A345s too. Both original Raffles Class SpaceBed and the new Business Class seats.

Concorde comes to mind as the big loss to the world?

Dakota, BKK-VTE, on Royal Air Lao, - though from the exact seat config, it may have in fact been a C47? A quarter way through the flight, someone in the front reclined their seat but there were no seat stops so it came to rest on the arm-rests of the seat behind, forcing everyone behind that row to do the same in turn. I was stuck in the rear row and when I tried to do the same, cracked my head on the floor. Now that I come to think of it, from the seating, I dont really know that it was any sort of DC3 and it may have been an old Lisunov Li-2.

One of my less comfortable flights, rivaled only by LHR-JFK BA 757 sardine-type config (in steerage). Still, it probably wasn't as bad as the out-going flight from VTE, supposedly into Kai Tak, for which Air France had booked me onto a plane which didnt actually exist and then left me to fend for myself with kinda a war going on in the background and no more flights.

Do YaK-40/42, Tu-134/154 and IL-86 count?

I am glad not to fly on any of them regardless the airline...
