Find a great mileage run deal? Take 20% off by paying in rubles. This works right now, but probably will last a day at most.

A bit of a risky arbitrage because you don't know what exchange rate is used. Sometimes they use the settled exchange rate of the day before the transaction for today's transactions.

Im looking at prices on United.com. Im only able to manage an average of 20 bucks discount per ticket and Im not even sure it will let me make the booking on the Russia UA Site with my USA CC.
Do you know of any site (such as expedia, or travelocity) but russian version where I could make the purchase? i keep looking for it on the internet, but Im only able to find shady travel agencies websites that end up pricing in USD:

I remember this was the case for the Wideroe fares earlier this year, as well.

be careful here. from flyerguide.com, "The exchange rate applied to a transaction is usually the rate on the transaction posting date, which can be up to 10 days after the actual transaction date". it would be an extreme situation where they would hold the posting that long, but this is an extreme situation. I seem to recall that previously, they could technically hold your transaction for up to a year, but legislation was passed to reduce that timeframe.
