Most disappointing place you've been to

You dreamed for years to go to X, and then you went, and...

Tell your tale.

Most disappointing place you've been to

United Lounge, SFO.

And...to that I would add Seoul. Always thought it would be interesting but What I found was despairing. Getting out of Seoul to the south coast of Korea was much more interesting.

Bucharest, Romania. Always wanted to see "Little Paris".

It's a dump and nothing works; the public transport is beyond infuriating. Don't go. Ever.

Here's 33 pages of opinions. Mine would be Venice Beach, CA.

I hated South Korea, but seeing as I had never looked forward to going there, I guess it doesn't count for this thread.

Most disappointing place you've been to

I lived in Korea for two years. It's an amazing place to live, but not the most exciting place to visit.

Las Vegas. I thought it would be glitzy and exciting. Instead it was tacky and crowded with obese people and life's losers.

Can agree with all above...

Korea, Dubai, and LV where all underwhelming.
Was also rather meh about Berlin, and to be honest, while I quite like it and it does have a lot to offer I don't think Paris lives up to the hype.

Mumbai was nearly an open sewer and if you take a morning train, you can watch people defecate the whole way

What were your expectations? Not knowing much about that part of the world, I can't say mine would be very high.

For years and years I had wanted to go to Arches national park. I thought I'd be sleeping amongst red rock and getting up to watch sunrise through an arch and watching stars through arches and so on. Never quite made it there. Till I did.

Once there, I tried for several hours to maintain a positive attitude. It's popular because it's beautiful, I said to myself.

That can't excuse the masses of screaming humanity that scream their way through every nook and cranny. I saw one arch, well a double one actually, count them, and that's that. Screaming. People. Adults.

I tried again the next day, but it was no better. I tried hard to enjoy it.

Oh, and the main concentration of arches, Devil's Garden, was closed.

I could have gone back at night, but I was too worn out and never wanted to go there again.

I saw one arch outside the park. Guess what. People. Hundreds. All screaming.

Of course, it was very hot too, which didn't help.

I now hate arches as a natural phenomenon and never want to see one again.
