Second Choice Flight and Protection
Let's imagine ...
Suppose an airline lets you make a second choice of flight/itinerary such that ...
If one of the flights is cancelled then you are confirmed on the other.
If neither flight is cancelled then the airline chooses which flight you get.
Would any airline find an advantage in offering this kind of program?
Would any passenger find it worthwhile?
(If both flights are cancelled or if you are assigned to the second flight which is cancelled after the first flight departs then today's rules for dealing with cancellations would apply.)
