Hi, cobyjohn12, and welcome to FlyerTalk.
FT is a very busy BBS, and we have established different fora for different topics. We have moved your post to the forum most likely to produce some discussion and replies to your question.

Where in the NYC area will you be living and where are you flying mostly to. Living in New Jersey for example will make flying out of LGA difficult.
UA (EWR), DL, AA, and Jet Blue all have considerable New York operations with direct flights.
If you can give us more information will should be able to help you.
Depends on where you are flying to but personally for short east coast hops I like Jet Blue for the direct tv service, especially since a lot of flights out of NYC experience ramp delays.
you have status on us?.....annual bis mi?.....travel pattern?.....if you fly less than 25k & don't want to mr, use orbitz/other to find the low bidder for each trip...
how many q mi do you have on us & other this year?

Welcome to FlyerTalk!
To repeat what others have said, your question can be best answered if you tell us at least some of the following:
How often you fly (e.g. twice a week, once a month) & how many miles do you fly per year.
Where you will fly to (e.g. 50% Chicago, 20% international)
Where you will be coming from/going to in the NY area (e.g. leaving work in Midtown, returning home to Riverdale) or what airport you prefer. Don't forget about HPN or ISP.
What's important to you: upgrades, non-stop flights, legroom in coach.
Who pays for your tickets (will you have control of the purchase).
How will you get to the airport (e.g. town car paid by employer, mass transit).
BTW: NWK is Amtrak's code for Newark Penn Station.
wow, thanks for such a quick response....I live on the Upper West Side, so all three airports are easily accessible. I fly about 50% of the time, both international and domestic. Probably up to 60K miles annually. I LOVE upgrades, town car transportation, and company pays for ticket, mostly. I am thinking UA but heard nightmare stories about their merger with Continental. Thanks all!!!

AA! Unless you want to fly to CAE, CHS and various others.
US! Unless you want to fly nonstop to LHR or EZE.
On second thought, tell us where you want to go and we can tell you which airline might meet your needs.
Oddly, I fly to CLT a fair amount and AA out of LGA serves my needs fairly well.
