Stab in the dark... MIA-MCO-TAL-ORD on an EA DC-8?

28. Well, the aircraft was a DC8....but what model of DC8 and how many seats were there in first class?

And the air carrier in question was not Eastern.

Plus, Orlando (MCO) was one of the stops. However, TAL (?) was not the other stop. Did you actually mean Tallahassee (TLH)?

I think it was shipped over in crates to CSA, the Czechoslovakian airline, running from Prague and Bratislava to Zagreb in about 1930. It replaced Farman Goliaths, a quite widely used French timber-built airliner of the 1920s, which were assembled by Czech manufacturer Letov. The Tri-Motor only lasted a few months before it crashed, and the route went back to the Farmans.

Bonus question. Is this it ?

Just to remind that this was a question ......

Process of elimination here - was it a Delta DC8-51 routing Miami-West Palm Beach-Orlando-Chicago ?

Please see post #11064....and I've come across some hopefully interesting information concerning Boeing 727-200 aircraft operated by Southwest which I shall share when my bonus quiz item concerning the other two destinations served by WN with the 72S in 1979 is answered.

Correct. And if I am not mistaken, PE had coincidentally purchased those aircraft from Braniff.

Yes, I meant TLH. Landing a DC-8 at TAL, a report airport in Alaska with a 4400' gravel runway would have been interesting, not to mention outside Florida.

Congrats to WHBM for giving the correct answer.

MAF and CRP are excellent guesses. Unfortunately, they are both incorrect.

I'll guess the other two cities WN flew 727s into were ABQ and OKC.

The 707 used in the movie Airport crashed outside Sao Paulo while operating for TransBrasil. I think about 20 people on the ground were killed in the crash.

Welcome back Joe! And your guesses are excellent as well.

However, Albuquerque and Oklahoma City are both incorrect.

Please guess again, sir!

I will take a final stab at it and suggest Lubbock (LBB) Rio Grande Valley (HRL). Each of these cities had non stops to both DAL and HOU.

Was my guess about the fate of the 707 used in Airport correct?
