Unhappy Changing a destination on a return ticket

Hi all,

first time posting so please go easy!!

I need to book a ticket from London, England to Lima, Peru. I want to continue travelling around South America and fly out of a different unknown destination.

A one way ticket is costing about $850 while a return ticket from Lima is costing $860.

Is it possible to purchase the return ticket and then change the return locations at a later date. Of course, I understand that there would be a change fee plus the difference of the cost of the new flight. Would this work out cheaper than purchasing a multiple city ticket.

Does anybody have any experience in this matter.

It really is driving me insane!!! Please help.

Thanks,

S

buy the return [round trip for some of us] unless you are quite sure of the city you want to go back from, but, i would price the open jaw ticket before i bought the rt to lima.....

post the airlines that may be involved in case someone has info on them....

good luck...

ps...what multiple city ticket would you buy?....i don't see it in your post...

Yup.. If I'm reading correctly and its a $10 difference.. I would book the return and roll the dice for a future trip.. Sounds like good economics..

btw.. Welcome to FT!

after rereading your post, i think it would help if you posted your best guess of the cities, in the order you want and the dates, like sept 15- nov 15....necessary info if you want to buy a multicity ticket...

$826 USD Santiago-Lima OW last week of August if you want to use the RT and get back to Lima for your return.
