hi all,
I'm testing out the lite version of kvs. I'm looking for availability between HKG and HNL for an award ticket on July 17th or 23rd as part of multi-city trip on Northwest. Im trying to see the approximately how many seats are open for general purchasing and hoped that it will tell me the chances of getting the an award seat. According to NW Site, there are perksaver award spaces available on the 23rd and perkpass on the 17th.
I was playing around with the program and looked at the whole week btwn the 16th and 23rd..and saw that the 17th had much availability. Anyways, my question is:
when I use KVS to search HKG-HNL on Jul 17th it says that there are many seats open in economy-K,T,L, ETC. all have 9. on both HKG-NRT NRT-HNL but when I search the segments seperately..the HKG-NRT flight is showing no seats in K... results are very different. anyone know why that is? how many seats are actually available?

Airlines allow different number of fare classes depending on bookings and routing. While there may be more seats for sale from HNL-NRT (they probabky charge more) they may have a lower number available for ticketing HNL-HKG. A beter example there may be on 2 seats for sale from Austin to Dallas. But if you book Austin to Dallas to Narita there are 9 seats available. The airline saves the seats for longer and higher revenue bookings. Closer to flight times they will chage the availability for the shorter/lower fare flights.

For award availability, you need the Platinum version of the KVS Tool, which will tell you exactly which SkyTeam flights have award seats available:

AA Non Stops on Worldspan and Appolo are zero out in all classes
Worldspan and Appolo are showing all zero availability for AA non stops. Sabre is ok. For example see below: Anyone know what the problem is? Also is there a way to see AA upgrade or award availability (ie: Z & X)

This is a known issue with those 2 engines, and it is mentioned in KVS Availability Tool FAQ, Part 1. In any case, Sabre (which is AA's native system) is always the best source for the most accurate AA availability data. You can also use Galileo.
Unfortunately, there is currently no way of showing AA award/upgrade availability, but if I do find a way to make that possible, it would immediately become available to Platinum-tier members, such as yourself.

[Sabre: Fares/ZUJ] Method is currently returning fares in SGD and AUD only
Due to the recent changes in that engine, the [Sabre: Fares/ZUJ] Method is currently returning fares in SGD and AUD only.
I will be working on adding a currency conversion function to [Sabre: Fares/ZUJ] in the upcoming version. In the meantime, Platinum-tier members can use the [Sabre: Fares/DotRes] method, which can already display fares in every imaginable currency of one's choice.

I may revisit this as my E/F renewal is imminent and I may choose to not do so.
A couple of Questions:
What sort of the information does the
PNR/Itinerary Retrieval Manager obtain?
Does the PNR Manager work for AA?
Can I use it on multiple machines with the one registration (Work PC, Laptop, Home PC)?
Cheers ...

Reason: [Edit: Found the answer to the last one]
As per the above list, AA PNRs are not currently supported, unless the booking was made via a TA (online or otherwise), in which case, it should be retrievable using the appropriate GDS option.
