Expedia moved to Amadeus from Sabre?

My two recent flight bookings both have 1A confirmation numbers and not 1S anymore.

This makes sense, but its my first tickets for say 10 years booked via 1A. Even AA flights within US were ticketed via 1A.

Maybe they were unable to add e-mails to 1S reservations (so that people can see on virtuallythere.com) and decided to move to 1A (checkmytrip does not require e-mail verification)
