Fare on ITA but not official airline website

I see a cheap fare on Turkish Airlines on ITA software and Orbitz but not the Turkish Airlines website, for the exact day. Should I just book through a third party site, or is the fare no longer available if it's not on the official web site?

I see that quite often on fares from United. On ITA, they have a lower class available than what United offers online.

I would suggest going through the TP site and get the ticket. They are still going to be good.

Check out the fare basis, just to be sure...you might want to check, how many miles you are going to get based on the fare basis.

If it was me ... I would try and book it on Orbitz.

When you actually click book fare on Orbitz it shows the actual higher price from Turkish Airlines, pretty big difference too, from $860 to $1076. Both are still cheap for India but $860 is very enticing in comparison.

I had the exact same problem with TK last week. ITA showed a fare for £198 but the cheapest fare on the TK website was £250. I tried over 20 online travel agents, but they all showed the £250 fare like on the TK site. I gave up in the end and just bought for £250.

This can sometimes stem from married segments issues.

I see Turkish Airlines is no longer affiliated with Orbitz. Not seeing any results from TK anymore. Interesting.

Can a good travel agent get around this?

"Married segments" refers to a situation where the availability for segments when married together into a fare is different from the availibility for those segments when queried individually. It's one of the many inventory control mechanisms used by the airlines.

I've found that sometimes online travel agencies use the individual-segment availability when calculating the fare until you get closer to the final purchase stage. Then, they try to validate the itinerary, the system realizes that the married-segment availability is lower. This kicks you into a different, higher fare.

This is EXACTLY what I see. Any way around this?

I checked your flight and your problem is as follows - ITA shows you booking class W which has no seats available on that day (you can check flightstats for that). So, in my view, the problem is somewhere in the system between TK and ITA, not TK and OTA.

To reconfirm it you may try other dates that have w seats available (if you can find them), and see if they are bookable.

Since your fare does not look like "error fare" as some blogs call it it should be safe for you to call travel agent, it should not kill this fare.

Quote fare basis WV3XP you are getting from the ITA, but most likely they will tell you the same, and will not be able to book it for you.

I see, very helpful information. Looks like I'm out of luck then if W seats are out on the days I want to go.

However there is a silver lining to this, the $1076 fare is half V and half W, meaning at least half the trip would get United miles, and 8607 miles is worth $217, I think. 8607 miles for $1076. Not great but not terrible either.

Try booking the segments individually using multi-city - several times I've gotten lower fare buckets this way.
