ITA Matrix Search: http://matrix.itasoftware.com

You can sometimes see flights, fares and detailed fare rules that may not be reflected on an airline's website. Please read the thread for some tips and tricks, screen shots, etc.

A related thread, ITA-Matrix-PowerTools - Userscript for Orbitz/DL/UA/AA/BA/CZ/IB/LA/LH/LX/TK, discusses a user script which is maintained by fellow flyertalk members to enhance the already powerful Matrix of ITA Software by providing new features and booking links.

Additional details and tips on the use of ITA's advanced routing code feature can be found in the following long-standing Mileage Run Discussion threads:

ITA has become much less efficient lately. It is usually quite slow on refreshing its pricing.

Exclamation ITA software showing available, airline website does not

I found a cheap fare on Turkish Airlines on ITA software. But it's not on the Turkish Airlines website, for the exact day and time. Orbitz also shows it available until I click, then it says the fare is no longer available. I keep trying but both ITA and TK/Orbitz websites are giving me the same results. Does that mean ITA software is showing a fare that is not really available? The fare classes are Q and M. Can anyone help me understand this please?

Note that this is a direct flight from LAX to IST.

ITA: Market Flights

How do you restrict certain codeshares from showing up in a search?

Ex.
ORD->HEL

I want a flight not marketed by AA on any leg. In addition, I'd like at least one leg on AY. How would I code this?

If I understood what you're asking for, then I think you want:

~AA* AY ~AA*

which means "zero or more flights marketed by anyone other than AA, followed by one flight marketed by AY, followed by zero or more flights marketed by anyone other than AA". Basically, it says that if you have any flights before or after the AY flight, they can't be marketed by AA.

Whoops, I meant not operated by AA on any leg, not marketed. Sorry about that.

If you don't care who operates the AY flight, then it's as simple as:

~O:AA* AY ~O:AA*

If AY has flights operated by AA then this would not prevent them for the one AY flight. It's not actually possible to prevent that specifically with the language we have available.

ITA shows lower fare on calendar page but not on flights page?

OK...I've searched high and low and even google wasn't my friend. I'm sure someone on FT has seen this before and can help this noob on why I'm getting a lower fare option on the Calendar page but when I click on the fare, it shows the lowest fare of $138 greater on the Flights page. Here are my steps:

(On the Search page)
Departing: PBI
/ alliance skyteam
Destination: SIN
/ alliance skyteam

Dates: selected "see calendar for lowest dates"
Departing: 11/22/2013
Length of Stay: 0 (plan is to spend 4 hours and fly home)
Adults: 1
Cabin: economy
Stops: no limit
Allow airport changes = unchecked
Only show flights and prices with available seats = checked

Click Search -> goes to the Calendar page

On Tues, 11/26 it shows the lowest price of 1379 USD.

Click on 1379 -> takes me to the Flights page

Lowest fare shown on Flights page is 1517 USD!

Why! Where is the 1379 USD price?

Well, it is a bit of a moo point at this time, cuz prices for today are just completely changed. But yes, the calendar view sometime shows prices which are not available. I'm assuming the calendar relies heavily on the caching system - it would be impossible to check availability on all possible routes for 30 days. When do you a single date, (some) availability checks kick in and prices are updated ...

You could be on to something with it caching. If I do an exact date search, then I get a fare closer to the $1500+.

ITA and OneWorld

I 'think' I've read something about OneWorld (mainly AA) hiding itself from ITA? I tried searching JFK - TLV on OW and ITA returns no results. Same thing for MIA - TLV...... I found tix on orbitz (AA94 & IB7866) - just cannot find any availability on ITA. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

This is actually a bug in the matrix site that I hope to get fixed in the next week or two. It is not due to caching, the calendar and single-day queries use the same data, neither of which has cached prices.
