Awesome exit! Congrats on the M&M award redemption too - those are a total pain to get.

I'm pretty sure buying a major airline at a valuation like that comes with a WHOLE mess of debt. It's be pretty funny though, and having seen what airline managers get up to it would be interesting thing to see a tech executive take it on. Hard to imagine them doing worse

Congratulations! This is amazing. Facebook is also mentioned as a cheap stock looking out to 2016/17 earnings.

Here is an interesting article on the background of the founders!

This is a truly fantastic story, and many, many congratulations on this deal.

And yes as a Brit living here in the US it is wonderful to see people rejoicing in other people's success, it is a great quality of America and long may it last!

Outstanding!

I know it's big in Asia. Most of the people I know in Indonesia seem to be using it. Me, as a texting dinosaur, doesn't know much about it.

Hahahaha. My understanding is that FB just spent 35% of their cash-on-hand to buy WhatsApp.... and WhatsApp's users include millions who create new accounts every year when their free for the first year accounts expire.

In another decade, "When FB bought WhatsApp" will be covered in the same business school textbook chapters that discuss when AOL bought TimeWarner and when Rupert bought MySpace.

Um, its 99 cents. You really think people create a new account to avoid a 99 cent charge?
