Wanted: to borrow or buy sync cord for IBM WorkPad Z50

It turned out to be a mistake thinking that I could readily find a sync cord for the IBM Workpad Z50 I bought on eBay for old time's sake.

http://www-03.ibm.com/press/us/en/pressrelease/2190.wss

Here's the deal: I'd like to buy one (but the only Google hit was from CDW and it was in fact an error. I believe that it's not longer available from IBM), but they are not to be found. I suppose I could buy another one on eBay that does have the cord and then re-sell without the cord.

The first sync of this machine has to be done via serial cable. After that it is possible to sync via network (which the Z50 nicely connects to). So I would be interested in *borrowing *your cord if you have one for a week.

Why not buy a used Z50 that has the serial cable? Not particularly expensive:

If I have to go that route, I will. But most of them end up being ~$100 with shipping. Just hoping by off-chance someone here might have.

I don't know, but I do know it's proprietary at the Z50 end, and serial at the host end.

I've been searching high and low, and they are just not out there. Perhaps it's time to find an alternative? Like an HP Jornada 820 or a Compaq Aero 8000.

You may well be right, and my weird obsession for this odd little sort-of-Thinkpad may remain unrequited.

I put up an "auction" at eBay with a title of "Want a LOAN of a synch cord for IBM Workpad" with a Buy-It-Now "price" of $25 and explained in the listing that I wanted to borrow one and would pay $25 to do so for a week.

Somebody who was parting out a broken-screened Z50 contacted me, did a private auction, I bought it from him, and closed my "auction."
