i need a kenisington E tip for my Hp pavillion dv....... any1 could help me with that? i would be glad to send them whichever kenisington tip they need (other than e of course)
Hello, I'm at my wits end with Kensington support and I thought I'd try my luck here before spending money looking for an N30 tip.
Kensington happily responded to my request for an N30 tip...and promptly sent me an N30B which doesn't fit. The next CSR I spoke to said he would send me a new cable which would allow my N30B to work with my 33196. Perfect!
They next sent me the cable pack for the 33197 (everything but the adapter) but the cable wasn't compatible with the "B" tips! The current CSR is giving me the standard line of "your model is obsolete and we no longer make parts for it". <sigh>
If you have a N30 tip I'd be happy to trade any of the following for it:
N1
N2
N4
N5
N9-
N15
N30B
The 33197 Cable pack

Thanks in advance.
Get someone with a dremel tool or a sharp knife to pare away the extra tab inside the N30B tip, and it will work fine.

I was hoping to avoid doing that but it looks like I may have no choice now that my sources of the N30 tip seem to have dried up. I'll also try to track down a voltmeter to confirm the output (I've seen the posts where someone tested the "B" tips and found they had a slightly higher voltage output).
Zimmerframe, have you specifically used or tested the N30B tip?

Nope, but I did the modification with another tip.
Also I measured the voltage on a number of B tips Vs non B tips and the difference in voltage is irrelevant in use.
My Dell inspiron 700m power adapter just gone wonkers on me, so I'm trying to use my Kensington power adapter as a replacement. Am currently searching for a Kensington N19 smartTip (e.g. http://us.kensington.com/html/6603.html NB: I need the N19, not N5) in exchange for any one of my Kensington smartTips:
N2
N3
N5
N14
N29
N30
Imagine I've 2 packs of smart tips (from 2 Kensington power adapters) and none works for my laptop..
Thanks fellas.
Among the goodies at LEDShoppe.com (e.g., a $5 alcohol breathalyzer), I found a $5 "universal" USB -> Cellphone charger cable with multiple tips to fit various mobiles. The URL is http://ledshoppe.com/Product/com/CA4026.htm
The kit includes a tip to fit my old Nokia phone, but not one to fit my older Moto model.
The device actually has an up-converter to change 5VDC from the USB port to 6VDC to charge the phone. The website description, which mentions 110-260 volts, is completely bogus.
A caveat: Over the years I've found that the items I've bought from LEDShoppe work as advertised, but there is often something peculiar about them. For example, a mouse with very stiff buttons, an LED flashlight that started flickering after a few weeks, and screw-in LED bulbs that lose half their brilliance after a month. Other items (card readers) have worked fine. It's YMMV.
Free shipping to US from Hong Kong, takes a couple of weeks.

Does anyone know which Kensington powertip is compatible with the HP 6930p Elitebook?
I just got a new work laptop and they switched from Dell to HP so I am in need of a tip that will work- preferably 2. The Dell N19 tip fits but won't power. Does this require an N30 tip instead?
If anybody knows for sure can you please let me know? I have several tips to trade including...
