You're kidding? The shipping box for my Apple 23" display was so large there is not a single hope it would fit into an overhead - like the size of a large, but relatively thin, suitcase - how big was this box?

I still can't believe how many of you guys carry this stuff on or check it, rather than having it delivered by carrier.

I dont think people prefer to carry it on.. OP can't for it to be delivered.
It would take a few weeks for the international shipment.. and an
overnight shipment would cost lot more.

Thats one of the reason most people choose to carry it on.

The OP never did respond to my question about what part of the world he was going to that would take so long for carrier delivery.

As for prices, even something like express 2-day delivery from New York to Hong Kong of a computer plus a large LCD monitor wouldn't be more than $200-300, plus if the carrier broke it, you'd be covered.

I'd guess OP's trying to ship things via a container along with the
other household stuff. but its a guess until OP responds.

You should know that in general airlines won't replace computers or monitors if damaged or lost in checked baggage. I'd send it Fedex or DHL.

This is correct. Express courier fees from New Zealand are horrendous so I wouldn't be able to afford sending it that way...
