Please direct me to the post where these instructions are posted if its already been answered but I did read the majority of these posts and did not see an answer to my specific situation:
Im traveling to Europe and am going to purchase a UM+ card before i leave so i will have the number all set up. I want to get my Att calls on that number but i dont want to pay the att worldwide rates. Is there a service that i can forward my att number to that will in turn forward to my new UM+ #? I understand there is probably a fee for this service but its surely far less expensive than paying att directly. I just cant seem to find a service that will do this. I know the voicesick and other services assign you an 800 # but i dont want that.

I use a Skype In number. I put some money in my Skype account and forward that to my UM+ number. Then I forward my TMobile number to the Skype In number, which is local.

Voicestick does give you a regular DID of your choice of areacode. It's just that it has lost its reliability. Others you can look into are: les.net, kall8, packetel. Of these 3 packetel is the only on that does not charge a monthly fee. les.net is $1 month and I think kall8 is $2 month for their DIDs. As already mentioned, skype is another choice.

Yeah just checked, they say it can take up to 11 days. unfortunately i wait until the last minute and am leaving a week so i cant chance it. Guess ill just pay the premium and buy from the online store.
Can someone suggest a SIM card to get for Portugal? Going to be using it over the course of a week in January, mainly to call and get calls from the US. Thanks!
I currently have a UM+ sim and will be taking the family to Italy. We would like to have another phone # in case we are separated. Should I get another UM+ sim or are there others I should consider?

I just got back from Italy and I used wind. It was 15 euro for the Sim and I think it included 10 euro credit. It had no data usage though. Be careful if you are going to call back to the us as it costs .45 euros cents per minute. The most interesting thing is I was able to use the optus sim I purchased in Australia(at the first of the year) with the 30aud data blaster option to keep connected to the internet on my iphone throughout Italy and Germany.

Thanks. Are they sold only at a phone store or also news/tobacco type retailers?

There are phone stores everywhere. They only thing you need is to show them is your passport. It is pretty easy to get and you can recharge them at any gas station or some atm's I believe.

Thanks, hoops7k. I checked online and they are substituting TIM so I will wait until I get to Italy.
