That said, is there any reason why LTE would be useful on an Apple Watch while outside of one's home country?
Apparently not, at least not currently. From the fine print:
Roaming is not available outside your provider network coverage area.

I have a personal account with an Android phone and a work account with an iPhone. Will the Apple Watch 3 with LTE work with an iPhone SE? I keep seeing iPhone 6 or later which I think includes the SE. I'm considering replacing the Android with an SE, getting the watch and leaving the SE at home most of the time.

Can you cancel/change your order. Or did you buy one of the older ones?

Yes. An SE is the smaller form factor with 6S internals.

https://www.att.com/shop/wireless/fe...umbersync.html

I just returned home from China where I placed the order for a cellular iW3.

I now see that AT&T wants the same billing address for my iW3 and my iP7. However, I ordered my iW3 directly from Apple using a personal CC and my AT&T iP7 uses my office CC.

How do I resolve this issue or do they mean that I must activate an AT&T plan for my iW3 that works with my current plan for the iP7?

I have serious jetlag and find the text unclear.

Below is from the AT&T web:
Requirements to use NumberSyncSM for Apple Watch (Cellular)
An AT&T postpaid wireless account
An iPhone with HD voice and running iOS 11.0 or higher
An AT&T Wireless plan for the Apple Watch
Your iPhone and Apple Watch must be on the same billing account
An AT&T User ID (Access ID) that is associated with the iPhone number

Orange launched a special multi-sim offering for the new Watch. See here and use Google translate if you need to....

https://livebox-news.com/2017/09/15/...r-lapple-watch

Maybe the US operators will launch the same service? If one operator can do it, they can all do it.

Note that it is taking the existing multi-sim offering and adapting to work with the e-sim on the watch. As for EU or roaming to north America using this new multi-sim, I'm not sure if that would work until they bridge a couple of gaps. But for normal roaming it should work fine as the watches sold here obviously support the 4G bands across the EU.

The cellular Apple Watch plan is basically an add-on to an iPhone account, meaning that you can't have an Apple Watch account on its own.

It shouldn't matter which card you used to pay for the device itself, but ongoing, the watch and phone have to be on the same account. If you have a corporate iPhone plan, you have to put the watch on the same account in order for it to work. You can't have a coprorate iPhone account and a personal Apple Watch account and expect them to work together.

Initial Apple Watch LTE reviews seem like a mixed bag. TheVerge, notorious Apple fan boys, have panned it due to some connection bug. Others, such as NyTimes are more favorable. Here’s a good roundup

Interestingly El Reg have proposed that to use the watch in LTE mode you'll need keep the iPhone on and connected to the LTE network. That's even if you are just going to take the watch out with you and leave the phone at home. That seems odd/dumb/weird to me but maybe I just don't get it. Also means that you can't use the watch as a backup to make calls when the phone runs out of juice if true. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/09...te_watch_woes/

not entirely.. for example, there is no gogo or united Wifi on my macs.. as I've never connected them inflight or at least not recently.

So, there must be some limits to how far via most likely icloud syncing a wifi profile will propagate.

Not interested about the Watch 3. I'm still using my Galaxy Gear (the first one) with my iPhone 7+. Will wait until next year that i hope there is a round watch or a redesign of the Apple Watch, i'm not even sure if i'll stay on Apple ecosystem or change again to Android. So i'll wait.

As far as the new phones, i'm not interested on the 8 or 8+. I could think of an upgrade from my 7+ to the X but i'm not entirely sure. My 7+ is a 256GB version and it was reasonably expensive. It has 10 months so i'm not entirely sold to Apple to grab my money so fast.

What i've been saving is to get a 2017 top of line MacBook Pro which i will get this year. My aging mac is 5 years old so i guess its due time. So after i upgrade my laptop.. might think of getting the X..
