Forcing portal page to appear on public/in-flight Wi-Fi
In the past I've just had to make sure to go to http://www.google.com (not https) to make the page appear--assuming my MBP doesn't automatically pop the page up on my screen. With more and more sites forcing encrypted access, it's becoming harder and harder to make the captive portal appear to accept terms/pay for access. This morning, for example, I had to try several websites before being able to access SLC's free Wi-Fi and literally had to use another browser to trigger Gogo's/Delta's page once in the air.
Is there a more reliable way of doing this that you guys use?

I recommend http://neverssl.com or http://neverhttps.com. As their names suggest, they'll never be served over HTTPS.
