Best Europe Voice/Data Option

As always, I appreciate the recommendations of the experts!

My hubby and I both have a Verizon iPhone 6s plus. We are traveling to London, Scotland and Iceland next month for our delayed honeymoon. What is the best way (cheap) for us to have access to voice/data on our phone/iPad during that time?

Believe it or not, this will be the first time I have traveled and try to have access on a personal phone.

Thanks

William

are you interested in calling back to the states, or calling to friends in London/Scotland/Iceland, or both?

if you're on verizon and have the latest plans (eg: More everything shared databucket, not grandfathered unlimited)

you can pay $10/day/device on Verizon's travelpass program (scotland/UK/Iceland), use your existing domestic data allowance, can call USA or within the roaming country - https://www.verizonwireless.com/plan......-countries/

otherwise, you can pick up a prepaid sim (some sims cover more than one country in EU, which makes it much easier). your Verizon phone is already unlocked

some examples:

generally, makes sense to go with Verizon if you're there for a short time (or jumping countries often), dont want the hassles of prepaid sims, and want to call USA often.

Most calls would be to US... probably more for data.

17 day trip.

then look at that prepaid wikia site

Iceland is kinda annoying to research(it's not in EU, but it's in EFTA)

the Euro4/Ortel Mobile w/ Cross is an option (covers both UK+Iceland), but calling back to USA seems to be expensive

3UK seems to be another option. Covers both UK+Iceland.

in UK calling USA with their 424 int'l dialing, it's 3p/minute.
in Iceland calling USA, it's £1.40/minute

If you go wit UK options, use a UK dial through or callback service to call the US. Alternatively go VOIP Over LTE.
