You do know that we can be both right in this case, don't you? It might not have that restriction on friday and yet, it has today. You need to keep that screenshot if you want to keep your simple plan.

I found it. Lucky I did it early! =)

Starting September 15, 2016, you'll need to sign up for T-Mobile ONE to take advantage of the iPhone 7 Trade-Up Offer. If you already took advantage of this offer between September 9 and September 14, you do not need to switch to T-Mobile ONE to keep the offer.

The tethering thing is a real pain on the One plans. I have 3 Simple Choice Unlimited plans for $140, which I think come with 5 GB of LTE tethering. Seems like I'm stuck to keep the tether.

If they offered unlimited high speed international roaming, some people on SC might bite.

Has anyone done the trade-in offer?

Free iPhone 7 32 GB with a iPhone 6S or 6S Plus, $120 more for iPhone 7 Plus?

But it appears in order to get the "free" or minimal trade in, you have to upgrade to the One plan, can't stay on Simple Choice?

And if you get the free trade in, you own the phone clear or are you still paying installments on it after giving up a 1-year old iPhone 6S or 6S Plus?

I did the trade-in for one of our lines, using an older iPhone 5 that was just laying around - so not completely "free", but will end up paying around $250 for the iPhone 7 at the end of it all.

I pre-ordered on Sept 9 and the requirement to upgrade to the One plan was added on Sept 16 so I'm good there.

The "free" phone is based on bill credits over 24 months which offset the EIP (Equipment Installment Plan) charges every month. You would own the phone after those 24 months of course.

So you didn't have to change your plan to the One?

Nope, stayed on Simple Choice NA (the promotional one from last year, $120/4 lines 10Gb each) - at the time of the introduction of this trade-in offer, it wasn't an issue. They added the One plan requirement on September 15 or 16th I think.

You mean it would lure you back if Tmo offered it free? Google Fi offers it now (but you pay for it of course, just like in the States).
