I remember seeing that in 2002 or 2003 when it was XM and the long term pricing wouldn't let you change devices... or maybe that was TiVo...

Dear WIR,
Yes. It was Sirius only (I think, I guess, as it was before the merger). The actual deal included up to 3 vehicle transfers which they would charge you $75.00 each for. I only did one transfer. My when I sold my last car, I simply kept that radio active (I told the person that I would keep SN/XM active for them). Since I have the app on my iPhone, no reason to ever activate another car radio. I also get the web app as well.
Overall, a smoking deal as I paid $499 back in 2001 or 2002. Definitely one of the best deals I have ever gotten!!!

I had a Mini Clubman which came with lifetime Sirius. While I didn't expect it to be transferable, I did make a call to Sirius when the car was lease returned to see if I could get away with moving it to my wife's car. The amusing thing was they couldn't tell the subscription was lifetime, when I gave them the old ESN. Consequently moving it elsewhere wasn't even something they could try.

So I called Sirius yesterday...
Me: "I'd like to cancel my account."
CSR: "May I ask why?"
Me: "My promotional rate is about to expire, and I will not renew unless I get the same promotional rate."
CSR: "Great! I'll be glad to help. I can offer you 12 months of pre-paid service for a discounted price of $99.99."
Me: "Um, no."
CSR: "Okay. How about 6 months of service at a discounted price of $49.99?"
Me: "I do not accept that offer."
(brief pause)
CSR: "Okay. I am authorized to offer you the same promotional rate of 6 months for $24.99. Is that okay?"
Me: (sigh) "Yes."
The whole call took 8m44s.

I just kept hounding her for a $25 package, and finally ended up getting it. Guess I'll be doing the same again in December.

Just went through this this afternoon, same offers. They cancelled my account because of an issue with my AmEx. But then still charged it when the issue was resolved. (Kinda shady if you ask me) Never turned the radios back on. I don't need the higher end package since I got Spotify for $10 for the summer, and T-Mobile kicked in an MLB At Bat package again, so baseball games are covered.

Oops. I called in on July 22, and they had already renewed me for the extortionist price of $99.99. After the usual song and dance, I got the six-month plan for $24.99. The $75 refund back to my credit card happened very quickly, too.
I thought about cancelling fully and use my Google Music account to stream. Glad I didn't. I got zero cell phone reception in pretty much all of Wyoming this past weekend. SiriusXM radio provided much-needed music/comedy while stuck in a 9-hour traffic jam in a cell phone dead zone.

I've had luck swing the other way. Had a streaming-only trial which I converted to a 6month for $25 deal - I can only use streaming since I only drive rental cars.
Fast forward, I am charged one month's renewal at market rates, I call to cancel with the expectation of getting another 6 months at $25, rep tells me basically to get lost, I confirm the cancellation and wish her the same....yet my mobile Sirius app is still logged in with that same username, still pulls my station and no new charges have hit my credit card.
Let's see how long it lasts.

I have an old Sirius radio that is still going more than two years after I cancelled it. I switched my service to the XM platform when I bought a new car but they never killed the old Sportster.

Opposite experience for me. My new (5 years old) car came with constant mail and phone barrages to sign up. The 30 day "trial" version on the radio was nothing more than a looped ad for Sirius. When I tried telling one of the callers to take my number off the list, they insisted they could not do so without verifying ID and billing info. Yeah, no.
No freaking way I'll ever sign up. I'd expect getting out to be just as bad.

They keep trying to get me to come back. After the first 6 months free I canceled. But constantly get mail and phone calls. They offer pretty decent deals if you keep saying no. But I never really used it.

Near the end of my free year they sent emails offering half price for six months. I was OK with the price but not the short time period. Then I opened a snail mail they sent and it was half price for a year so I signed up. Now I'm hooked on "Deep Tracks" so I'll pay whatever they ask.

Called to cancel today. It was almost painful. She kept hounding me on all the great stations to listen to. I really just wanted to cancel. I can just load my iPhone up or stream Spotify in the car. She was relentless. I had a $20 6 month renewal plus 2 months free on each car. I just wanted to cancel, took 20 minutes.

I received an offer for a relative's new car for $60/12 months, but they refused to budge on streaming. I have a few old streaming accounts that I received offers on at $30 for 6 months, and I am considering signing up by using a Visa gift card, thus blocking any attempt to continue charging me for services after I call to cancel - anyone see risk in doing that? It's not like they have my real name or credit info/social security number.
