Hi everyone - I was fortunate to have stumbled across this forum when I was doing a search about the TSA computer test. I am scheduled to take the test tomorrow. If anyone has any insight for me that would be great.
Now a little about me. I live in So. Jersey but originally from Seattle. I was laid off from a supervisor position last July (08) and decided to go back to school. One of my passions is computers so naturally that was the course that I took. I have since completed courses and have gotten 2 of my 3 certifications. With my computer experience being non-existent (in the work arena) I have had to look for employment in other areas, thus, that is what has brought me to apply for a TSO position.
I read thru all the posts here and found them to be enlightening and educational to say the least.
I look forward to reading more on this thread as well as reading some of the others.

Welcome to FlyerTalk and remember that much of what gets written about deals with your coworker's attitude towards the flying public. Watch what you say about TSA since your managers might read tomorrow what you wrote today and react negatively towards you exercising your First Amendment rights.

echoing what AngryMiller said but also, please don't take what we say here personally . a lot of it is frustration with "your employer", the lack of uniformity from station to station and a few bad apples. as you read thru this forum, you will see that there are many "of you" who have been most helpful and informative so again, welcome and sit back & enjoy the ride

Welcome aboard, and kudos for having the guts to admit up front you are trying to become a TSO. As you will soon see, that won't necessarily make you a wildly popular member at FT.
I will be smart about what I say, that's for sure And although there has been much written about the "not so nice" TSO's my ultimate goal is to be one of the "really nice" TSO's. That might be a little unrealistic and a little "too soon" of an attitude since I haven't even taken the test yet!!
With that said, I have enjoyed reading everything on this forum so far and will continue on! Thanks again for the welcome!!
LENELAN......first off welcome to Flyertalk. I will echo what others have said. If this is what you want I wish you much success. Please continue to post & let us know how it goes.

I might as well jump on the bandwagon...
I'm an electrical engineer (mostly little stuff, not big stuff) and a newly minted university professor (tenure track ) working in NYC and living in Chicago on weekends. Until recently I only flew a few segments a month (at most), mostly for leisure. Now I do a weekly (almost) Chicago-NYC r/t. Thanks to DEQMs, my "lowly CO silver" status will change to Gold in 8 days (plus posting time).
If you want to know more details (why? ), you may friend me on Facebook (hmmm... what's that username).
