exit control stansted and gatwick?

Are there exit controls that check passport and visas when departing from Gatwick (north and south) and Stansted airports?

Your airline will want to check that you have necessary visa or passport for the country you are travelling to (so that they don't get fined for taking you there), and passenger manifests will probably go through a computer screening (so you won't be able to flee the country if wanted for murder). But no, there is no passport control as such on leaving the country.

There is some talk about improving recording of exiting pax, but as far as I know, it hasn't come to much yet.

My friend told me that she took a ryan air flight and was stopped at departures because she didnt have the "yellow slip" given at Stansted (from security I guess or when they check your passport against your boarding pass) for people with non-european passports. What is this "yellow slips"?

No idea - sounds like an airline issue rather than a border control one.
