Anyone tried a seatback organizer yet?

I was googling for an in-flight cup holder the other day (found the "Cup Pilot" on Magellan's), but came across these little dohickies in my search... Talk about having everything at your fingertips! Has anyone see one of these in use yet...?

I'm most intrigued by the "Nirvana Seatback Organizer & Travel Tote" by zenclasstravel.com that can accomodate a large bottle of water/pop (yanno, the size that is most often sold past security?).

There are a few others out there too... but the "Traveler" at Sarahbelli.com seems a little sparse (bottle holder too small?), and the one at Magellan's seems a bit too long and may interfere with highly coveted knee room.

What a fabulous idea !

I just ordered two of them - one for my husband and me to use on our trip from LAX to MXP next month, and one for my son and daughter-in-law.

With a 3 yr old and a 3 month old, it will come in quite handy for car trips, flights back to Florida to see the other grandparents and just as a "baby gear bag" their double stroller!

Yep! I shopped around and the nirvana was way more functional than anything similar because it slides right on to the tray table in like 2 seconds (no straps or velcro or whatever) and you're right, it stays above the knees unlike one of the others I saw too. I take a lot of long flights in coach and take a lot of gear along. It's awesome to have all my electonics, books, magazines right in front of me instead of under the seat, or in the seatback pocket which also kills the kneespace if you put stuff in there (I'm 6'1"). Like you said, even has a bottle holder. They have a cool video at their website that you should check it out if you haven't already. I love the thing.

Thanks for a great thread. This looks very interesting, especially the ability to hang it in front of you...

I have been looking for ways to organize small stuff and gadgets etc, although I wasn't thinking of hanging it, just inside the carry-on.

As for hanging it, not sure if I'd feel comfortable putting my passport and credit cards like that in the open, as they show in the photo.

Still brooding this over. Looks like 2 bags in 1, but somethings are private and I wonder if we should have in fact have two bags .

BTW it is on sale at ebags right now for 31.99 IIRC.

I would be embarrassed using something like that. Seriously, do you really need that much stuff right in front of you all the time?

I don't get it....

It appears to make the tray table unusable, or am I looking at it wrong?

It looks bulky, where am I going to carry it ONTO the plane.

What happens when the guy in front of me "fully reclines"?

This just looks like one of those "cool" ideas with more "cute" then function. LOL!

I just received the 2 that I ordered yesterday - took 5 days with standard shipping.

There are 2 pockets near the top - one for boarding passes (or whatever) and one for passport and/or credit cards. The pocket for passport/credit cards actually has a flap with a magnetic closure, so if you choose to put your passport or credit cards in there, they would not be out in the open. I believe the ads just show it that way so you can see there are really 2 different pockets there.

These seem to be very well made and it appears they fit snuggly onto the tray table. I don't think that even fully loaded they would make your tray unstable or get in your way even if the person in front of you reclines. You have much less leg room if you're jamming stuff into the seat back pocket than you would using one of these organizers.

And it easily fits in either my husband's daypack or my underseat tote bag (we already tested it). It will be so nice to have everything we want to use in flight in one easily accessible place, rather then reaching under the seat to get stuff during an 8 hour+ flight (especially in an AA 767-300 coach seat)!

Brilliant idea, but I almost always travel in the bulkhead rows so no seat in front of me to hang it from

Sounds like that could mess up the magnetic strip on your credit cards.

I apologize - I wrote too soon, before I had fully checked mine out !

The top pocket w/the magnetic closure can be used for your passport or other items. However, there is an entirely separate credit card holder inside the top horizontal zippered pocket (it's labeled as a "hidden cash/checkbook pocket and credit card slots"). There are slots for 6 credit cards. You could also put your passport in there if you wanted to be more secure (and that's probably where I will carry mine).

The top zippered pocket is big enough to hold my netbook, portable dvd drive, cables, etc. for flights. Since AA does not have AVOD in coach on its international flights, I am looking forward to being able to watch my own movies on the netbook.

There are also SD/Flash memory card holders on the upper right .

OK, so no magnetic risk. I would still be nervous leaving my credit cards hanging from the seat back as I go to washroom etc.

But I do think itcould be an interesting gadget for things you don't mind leaving like that. I'll keep an eye on this thread and may order one for myself!
