I think the credit card pockets are probably there more for things like hotel, airline and other "non-cash" types of cards. But, they're inside a zippered pocket that nobody can see. It would be the same risk as leaving anything else at your seat when you go to the bathroom. If someone really wants to steal your stuff I guess they could but it's not like the cards are hanging out for everyone to see. Anyway, I think the slots are there for the people who want to use this in the "tote" mode when walking through the airport on while traveling... I don't use it that way because I carry it on inside my backpack (slides right in very easily) and then hang it on the tray table when I get on the flight. Someone asked about being able to use the tray table if this organizer is on it... I even use it with the tray table down by resting it on the bars that connect the tray to the seat (if I want to do work on the tray table, etc.). It's a very useful tool especially on longer flights because it solves several annoying little problems.
The flights I can see these being possibly useful on are long overseas flights. If you are in Business OR First the tray is generally not on the seatback.
Watch the video on the Nirvana. WHERE do you put this thing then?
Seriously, this thing seems to have lots of flaws for use on the type of flights you would WANT to use it on. Not to mention that if you are in the aisle your "seatmates" are going to LOVE banging into this as the enter and leave. Probably only polite to remove the "impediment" LOL!
(Isn't it actually against FAA regulations to attach things to the seats. Seems like I heard that during the "knee defender" fight?)
I am going to be honest. If you are in the aisle and this thing is "overstuffed" then you need to be polite and REMOVE it when your seat mates want in and out. You don't get to block access for your toys LOL!
It's def. not for first class or biz class trays. It's for the rest of us who have to fly coach most of the time! In coach, don't you always have to put your tray table up, put your computer and other "toys" and impediments away if your seat mates want in/out?? Not sure why this would be any different.
Totally agree, it's the polite thing to do to make sure you're not impeding your seat mates, but I don't think I've ever had to take this down for someone to slide by... it extends out about the width of the water bottle and you really can't fill it with big bulky items because of the slim profile as it hangs (but if you did, it slides right off/on the table in 2 seconds with its sleeve). Honestly, having the person in front reclining their seat causes more trouble for people getting in/out of the row than this organizer does!
Like anything new, it's not perfect and it's probably not for everybody, but I think it's a big improvement on the alternative of digging under my seat or in the overhead compartment everytime I need something. (for what it's worth, my seat mates have never complained and most who even notice have asked where they can get one! Even the flight attendants comment favorably, and they don't usually like anything I'm doing -
this week. I found the zenclass one fairly good, but not perfect. Yes, it made it easy to have cables and what I'd need in-flight handy. Yes, it's only handy when it's on your tray table, and when it's there, you're not going to use the tray table in the down position (I suppose one could zip up all the pockets, and try it, but it doesn't really lend itself to this use). More importantly, I found I wished many of the pockets to have more give--ie, to have more of a well to them (like the well you get when both sides are zipped up, and you have a "bag" you can drop stuff into. The flat zip-up pockets weren't quite wide enough for all of my stuff (netbook, hard drive, charger, etc).
I also wish it had a hook built-in. that would be convenient...
Beyond these gripes, I very much enjoyed using this. It beat the alternative of attempting to fold myself in half to reach under the seat in front of me...
I ended up not getting the organizer, but did get the Cup Pilot. It has been on 3 trips with me since. From the first flight, not having to think about holding my coffee the whole time, or spilling my drink when I bump against the tray table- best $20 I've spent. Post-drink, it held my ipod handy, along with a few little items.
I really like the idea of this product, but my hesitation is that what do you do when you need the tray table down - for writing, eating, etc?
How can you attach the Nirvana and use the tray table at the same time?
If you use it with the table down, it's just sits on the tray table rails and leans against the seatback - which is usually fine - as long as it's loaded in a balanced manner. However... as the website says "if there’s turbulence, all bets are off" because used that way, it's not actually attached to anything.
I can't tell from the sarabella (?) site- but looks like their orgainizer slides (from one side over the tray table. Hard to say if "The Traveler" needs to be empty before sliding, as full it may be too tight to slide over. I would buy that one if it was $20- but at $40 seems too much.
