No wheels, but it only weighs 4 lbs.
And a lifetime guarantee. I bought my first one at least 10 years ago and am currently on my third, both replacements were free. The first was because a handle was ripped by an airline, the second because the seam on an inner divider ripped.
Plenty of room for two weeks of stuff (I do travel light, but I do pack a CPAP machine in the bag, too).
4 lbs! You should try this bag - fits in all the Euro sizers and weighs half that. http://www.cabinzero.com/

For travelling in Europe, I need a bag that fits 21.5 x 13.5 x 9.8 in (55x35x25cm), and of course a light one (max allowed weight is 8KG).

Ideally wheeled, needs to have space for 2/3-days clothing and for my macbook (15.4-inch) plus few documents, all easily accessible.
I'd love one of those "business" ones, but I cannot find any that fits, and I wonder what people flying in Eu on AF/AZ/KML for work carry on.

The travelite Delite seems great, but I can't find it anymore.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!
Hi,

have the exact same issue here. I flex quite often between VIE, HAM, MUC and FRA in December and tried to check out all the other travellers. I have to say, most of them seem to have a lot of money, because most of them used Samsonites or Victorinox. So I studied those websites and it more or less came down to the following two models (for me, I want this two-bar grip, four wheels, as light as possible and hard case):

- Samsonite Lite-Cube Spinner 55
- Victorinox Spectra 2.0

Both are available at approx. 250€ currently.

But I still look for better/cheaper alternatives, so ideas welcome..

Best regards from Austria,
Philip

These are nice indeed (while expensive) but unfortunately the Samsonite is 55x40x20cm and the Victorinox is 24 x 41 x 55 cm, which would not be allowed on KLM, ALITALIA, AIR FRANCE and some others.
In your research have you found any smaller (even 2 wheels)?

Yes, this and the weekender are ok but I'm looking for rolling alternatives.

https://store.ricksteves.com/shop/p/rolling-carry-on comes to mind as one which meets the dimension width of 13.5 but at 6.65 lbs, a bit heavier than I'd like.

You might want to search on the European websites which list luggage dimensions
http://www.koffer-direkt.de/reisegep...roessenindex=S
http://www.koffer-direkt.de/reisegep...icht=2kg+-+3kg

It brings up a few within the 55x35x25cm requirements. I'd check with a tape measure in person to validate the claims, but at least a starting point.

http://www.koffer-direkt.de/travelit...ley-51-cm.html
http://www.koffer-direkt.de/cocoono-...ley-50-cm.html
http://www.koffer-direkt.de/travelit...ley-53-cm.html

If I recall, Amazon.de will ship outside the EU and so do some of the other German luggage shops if needed.

UK Samsonite also lists some in the desired dimensions

I see it weighs 7.5 lb. My target weight is under 5 lbs. That's a tough metric that few bags achieve, but it's where I want the bag to be.

As an experiment I bought my better half one of the Aerolite carry-on bags and I think it was the 21". It is very light, not sure about the longevity of it yet but she loved the fact it was so light and then could cram more in to make it heavier!

and for 17 GBP for the 18" on sale, wow, that's a great price even if it only lasts a year.

Being in similar predicament, may I ask, what did you find? (I am assuming we are talking about flight bags, as opposed to back in the trunk suitcase for a weekend of fishing).

I have not find any suitcase -- carry on -- which is actually conforming on every dimension to regulation on majority of airlines. There are of course popping up 22x14x9 bags from several sources, and most likely most airlines on long hauls will accept those, deviation (22") or not. Problem is however bag weight restrictions, and ultimately one can ask, how useful is a boarding suitcase with 3[kg] of net weight?

Until something better comes up, in the interim, I have all documents and electronic gear now in a personal item, and cabin trolley (which I am for now borrowing) is virtually empty on the plane, and it gets use only at the destination on inland (train) short duration travels, where 24" Tourbach due to its size would be nuisance, so its stays behind in the hotel. Still however searching for better strategy which does not require new purchase of gear every time one goes to work.

Not sure if this has been discussed before, but I did a quick search and found no results.

I have just seen this kickstarter project for the Slicks bag. It does seem like an excellent option, and apparently it can fit a lot of things.

What do you think?

Hi joseeantonior, thanks for spotting us! Sasi here from Slicks Travel System Kickstarter project. Slicks is indeed an 'excellent' one bag carry-on option for all kinds of travellers: business & leisure! Happy to answer any questions you or other FlyerTalk forum members have (if needed even through a separate thread!)

Please make an ultra lightweight roller bag! I already have the Cabin Zero - don't need another backpack.

looking for light but smart backpack carryon

I have a Samsonite roller for going to civilized places, but I often end up places where I really want to be able to carry my bag, so I have been using an Antler Urbanite backpack - fairly smart, pretty light, not quite as big as I'd like.

After three years one of the seams across the top has gone, and I need a replacement. I'd like to go slightly bigger ideally (the Urbanite is 45 x 33 x 23) as it can be a squeeze to get a week's worth of stuff in there, and I only use one bag for these trips (often on LCCs/local carriers with one bag carry on policies). And I'd quite like to go a bit more stylish - I saw one of these at LHR T2 last year, and it looked really nice... but 5 lb! Or this one from Troop London which seems to be a reasonable compromise between some style (ie not nylon) and not too heavy (3lb). But they are both more or less the same size as the Urbanite.

I like the size/weight of the Cabin Zero mentioned by NYTA, but can't really see the layout - is it just one big pocket? [what a wanky website btw]. And it's pretty 'nylon'... And while it meets the cabin standards for most Western airlines, it's too big for KQ and SA, for instance.

Any other ideas for a biggish rucksack, light but stylish, and ideally with some pockets/internal segmentation?
