Guys, can you please keep this STICKY thread clean. It's there for discussion and introduction of new bags worthy to make the lightest bag thread. It's not there to discuss where a bag is still in stock.

In that sense, thanks to SanDiego1k for a post right on target.

Cheers,

Till

Antler New Size Zero 55 cm

Just got mine at LOS for $50 less than anything I found online. On postal scale with tags and keys still on, it is 5 lbs 6 oz (Antler says 5.3 lbs). Height is 21" plus soft top handle which squishes down to well under 22"; 13" across; 8;5" deep at widest. Bag has sort of a leaned-back profile (hard to describe--this is website http://www.antler.co.uk/catalog/1000x55.cat) so case is actually 8" deep at most points. Telescoping handle locks. It doesn't look like the sturdiest bag on the planet, though easily as sturdy as the International Traveller. One large exterior pocket. Large and small interior pockets. I am pretty happy with it though I haven't taken it on the road yet.

I use a 'pack easy switzerland' carry on (hard sided).
Its not a well known brand outside Switzerland but I highly recommend it.

It is worthwhile considering Lipault if you have the opportunity to visit France. They advertise all of their collections as being ultra-light. I visited the Madeleine store, two blocks down from Opera, 3 blocks from Park Hyatt Vendome, and found quite a range of tote bags, carry on suitcases, and larger ones. I didn't buy, having been on quite a buying spree this past year, but would have seriously considered it otherwise. There was a range of cabin bags, all of which would slide over the handle of the suitcases. Suitcases had pockets and compartments that looked to make good use of space. I didn't weigh anything, but wouldn't doubt their claim that the foldable 2 wheeled cabin luggage (55cm) is 2.42 kg (5.3 lbs). They have a range of colors, many quite vivid and more likely to appeal to women.

I didn't see this mentioned in this thread. Lands End makes an $80 convertible now, I like the fact that it is 22x14x7 compressed, and 22X14x9 when expanded. I wonder how much it weighs.

Anyone check out the lightweight Tumi roller:

Tumi Voyageur Super Leger International Carry-on 20"

ebags says it is 4lbs 14oz (~2200g) and 14.961" x 20.472" x 8.268"

Is this the lightest Tumi roller?

Thats a good looking bag. Shoulder straps look a little iffy. Anybody have this bag and can comment on it? I cant even tell how it opens from the pics.

To the newbies and less frequent or oblivious posters. Stickies are immensely useful sources of condensed info IF they are not junked with extraneous discussions and requests. Start a new thread for that and it will be the focus. Here it only distracts.

Sorry to be so harsh about it but it can get really unnerving.

Apologies if this line has been mentioned before but I believe it is very new:

Samsonite B-Lite V79 which claims to start at 2,2kg for the 55cm/20 inch cabin trolley non-spinner and 2,4kg for the cabin trolley spinner. (also larger pieces available) Prices at MUC start at 129 Euros and up.

The case is very pleasing from a visual and a user standpoint. It has two positions for the handle. I actually prefer it now to the Travelite and the Sub-0.

I have been looking for a rolling carry-on that meets both Lufthansa and Continental requirements (could get put in the sizer). So basically I want at or less than 55 x 35 x 20 cm (and of course nothing too heavy).

I stumbled across the Antler Aeon Air Cabin Suitcase. It shows the max for my dimension requirements and lists a weight of just 2.6 kg. In US measurements - Size (inches): 21.7 x 13.8 x 7.9 Weight (lbs): 5.7

Has anyone here used this?

It all depends on your needs. For some people, carrying a 25 - 45 lb fully packed 22" pack is not an option, too heavy for them. But the Rick Steves convertable carry-on is very light weight. Here is an alternative on wheels on closeout from Victorinox Luggage that is very lightweight and converts to a backpack. http://luggagebase.com/product/1611/...-Special!.html
