Portions of the post that previously appeared in this space have been deleted. I would provide you with a reason why, but doing so would likely be against the TOS.

There are much better bags at lower prices than these.

I recently got a Rick Steves convertible carry-on for about $60 or so in a closeout online. For the money I think it's a good bag. It's hard for me to believe that a Red Oxx is worth $200 more.

I have one of these. Fits US airline carryon size limits and weighs just 1lb, 12oz when empty. Be aware that for that weight though, there is no frame at all. It's the bag, compression straps, a few outside pockets, and convertible backpack straps. And at only $30, much cheaper than the Rick Steves.

Check out the Ebags Weekender....similar to the RS bag but less money and I think better built.

The word "these" in the post above is a link... click it and it'll take you right to the item.

The Red Oxx is expensive and there is no way it is good value for someone who will not use it a lot - like 20+ times a year. However if you travel that much, you are used to renewing bags every year or so, and you know that the quality of the zips, the material, the stitching, the shoulder strap and the snaps are all worth paying for.

I think my Red Oxx is the best luggage investment I have ever made (in 30 years of international travel). Once you have been let down more than a couple of times by a failure of some part of a bag, you become a lot more focused on quality and real value for money than price.

I have the Ebags Weekended, and I find it to be just 'ok'. On the bright side it holds a TON of stuff, and I find it useful in that it can be used as both a backpack and carried like a duffel.

The negative is that it has about as much "form" as a sack of water and contents always get thrown all over.

I got a good deal on the Osprey Porter 46, and I couldn't be happier. Bit more money but a much better product in my opinion.

Are you talking about the Sky Boss when you mention Red Oxx or the Sky Train?

If Sky Boss....a couple of questions:

1) What does it weigh empty?

2) How difficult is it to pack a suit without using the "bundle method?"
