Hi guys, great site by the way. Ok--what's a good, comfy pillow to take when flying? I bought a very pricey Samsonite but you know what? it looks too small. What brand do you swear by? (I'm in Australia so some US brands may not be available here)
I have a travel-pillow called "Tempur". It's not inflatable, but you can roll it into a very small piece and when you unpack it, it extends to it's full size. It's a material invented by NASA and it will fit exactly into your neck. Means, the heat of your body temperature will make it bend the way that you are comfortable. Have a look in any shop that caters health-pillows. I am sure you can find something like that in Australia. I bought mine in Switzerland and I will not travel anymore without it!

I swear by a pillow I bought at the BA Travel Shop in London. It is U shaped with a ribbed back. Thus, once inflated, the back stays flat so that my head isn't forced forward. This is great; the back of my head goes against the seat, and my head is supported by the inflated sides.
The best inflatable pillow I have found is from Target. I got it years ago and it is still great. I paid about $7. Don't know if they still have this particular style there anymore.
I am currently thinking about ordering the Inflatable Komfor Kollar. I was wondering what you thought about the Memory Foam? Is there anything wrong with the memory foam. I just want to order the most comfortable one since I will be on a couple of flights lasting about 24 hours.
If you're looking for a back support pillow carry a large ziplock bag and blow it up w/ air when you get on the plane. Saw that in esquire or some other mens mag a couple months ago. Haven't tried it though as I don't have a bad back.
I use Hedbed which is a fleece covered inflatable tube. It doesn't go around the neck but can be wedged into the neck, against the wall or used as a pillow. It is compact, practically no weight and very versatile. It can be be unzipped and washed as necessary. I bought 2 after I lost a smaller version that I had travelled with for 10 years.
I have had quite a few travel pillows (since I fly everyweek) and I LOVE the new Brookstone travel pillows. They have a extra large air hole (about an inche wide vs the traditional 1/4 inch wide tube) and therefore extremely easy to inflate and deflate. I highly recommend it!
Safe travels!
