Does the "Blender Bottle" count as a shaker cup? The whisk ball really seems to do the job. Works well for my husband.

I'll try to share a link (not sure it's allowed):
http://www.amazon.com/BlenderBottle-...Blender+bottle

If you're only trying to mix protein powder, and not any fruit, etc., I recommend getting an Aerolatte. Very portable, mixes well.

Although it's a frother, I use it daily to mix protein powder with milk, OJ or coconut water. It does a nice job and is so much easier to clean and deal with than a blender bottle or blender.

A cheap stick blender will probably meet your needs?

I also like the Hamilton Beach single serve blender. I have the one with the stainless steel jar. Like wav3rider's, the jar can be turned upside down and slipped over the base for more compact storage. If that's still too big, get a hand blender.

I'm sure Google or Amazon in the US will find something similar.

Got the HB blender as recommended via Amazon Prime. It arrived. It is good for powder for sure and ripe softer fruits. The SS container doubles as your cup. It slips over the blender for a compact package for travelling.

The issue of bringing a stick blender is looking for or bringing a cup that will hold what you intend to blend with margin to keep the splatter to a minimum. With the traditional blender you can fill up the cup and the lid prevents splattering.

Reviving this to ask if a hand blender is OK with TSA? I am debating between a hand blender and a frother but I may need to put it in my carry on once in a while.
