OK, it seems odd, I'll admit. But for an upcoming trip I really need this chair, and my schedule once I land in STL probably won't allow me to pop into a sporting goods store and pick one up there. The smallest fold-up I have collapses into a cylinder about 5 inches across (good), and 35 inches long (not good). It's clearly not going into my 28" checked bag. Since the chair comes in its own protective bag, somebody suggested that I strap it tightly around the outside of my checked bag and send it on down the conveyor. Have to admit that makes me a little nervous, but it's a $10 folding chair if worse comes to worse.

So....looking for either...
1 - tips on a good product to securely attach the chair back to the outside of a suitcase

or

2 - if anyone knows of a folding chair (standard height, with back support a must) that would fit inside a suitcase, that would be great too.

Perhaps this? A bit more expensive than the one you have but not off the charts. Specs say 4"x27" folded; that's tight, but depending on the type of suitcase you have and how you pack, it certainly should fit on a slight diagonal.

If thats the chair that has to go maybe go to your local hardware store and buy and cut a PVC pipe section big enough to fit your chair in and then buy 2 end caps?

Thanks for all the suggestions. Love that telescoping chair from REI, that's going on a wish list! Ultimately, when puzzling over this last night, my spouse asked "don't you get two free checked bags?" Yes. "So why don't you put a tag on this duffle-thing that covers the chair and just check it?"

My friends have nicknamed the Quik-e-seat the "man hater". Many find the pointed triangular front uncomfortable. The women don't seem to mind it.

I travel often to music festivals, and my go-to chair is the roll-a-chair. It fits in my 29" rolling duffel, weighs under 3pounds, and it's surprisingly comfortable.
