What do you think about this little discovery? A shampoo alternative for hand luggage
Hi guys,
look at what I randomly discovered :
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/onesoap/one-soap
I'm travelling all the time and am really considering getting this thing ^.. Never saw anything similar and it seems to be very practical. Even just to wash your hands on your way (At crappy places like one can come across sometimes - you don't always find full soap dispenssers ).. I have lot's of ideas, what to do with it @:-)..
Has anyone of you experience with ordering things at kickstarter? Looks alright to me, but no clue .. Would really like to know, what you think about it?!

Lush has products like that already.
For kickstarter these are products in development, you can "invest' in the company and get various rewards for your investment. Your money helps the company launch their product.
If the company does not hit their target then all money is refunded to investors. This product says not to expect delivery for 4 months.

Can you drop a link to the product maybe or what it's called?.. I would want one ASAP actually hehehe.. I've looked at Lush's their website but found "shampoo bars" only but nothing in a practical container like this one..I don't really like the standard soap boxes.

I think the tin is just to hold the Shampoo Bars they sell (like this one):
http://www.lush.ca/Squeaky-Green/027...20BAR&start=11
There are plenty of Shampoo Bar options on Amazon as well, most in the $10-$15 range (pricey to me, but should last awhile if only for travel). Any of these that are Glycerin based (probably most) could pretty easily be melted into an empty deodorant stick to get the same effect as the OneSoap. Just don't try to melt anything Tallow based as it will burn/harden instead.
Depending on your hair type (oily, dry, etc) this one from Maple Hill Naturals caught my eye as not being silly expensive... downside is some reviewers report it doesn't handle hard water well, which can be unpredictable when traveling.

"Dry shampoo" that frequently takes the form of a spray powder has been around for decades. It's not very effective but might be better than not washing the hair at all.
Since one doesn't need huge amounts of shampoo, I don't see an issue with bringing small amounts in travel sized plastic bottles in carry on bags. Many brands are sold in small sized packages, including some shampoo in almost gel form that comes in plastic tubes.

They're making a mistake by featuring this product as being for MEN. Why cut out half the market? It is a good idea, but only 15-25 showers per stick? I would have to take two on a trip. I'll buy once it's on sale. And an MD plus a pharmacist ought to be able to come up with their own seed money.

The tin looks very fiddly to open.. I've seen some like this.. and then the thing flies out and lands on the floor..

I would question whether the "new" Williams formula is good enough for shaving The high Glycerin content of the OneSoap makes me think it would be pretty similar to something like Col. Conk or any of the hundreds of melt-and-pour soaps sold as "artisnal" on Etsy. If you are interested in making your own, you can do it as easily as melting BrambleBerry M&P base along with some EO of your choice in the microwave and pouring into some Dollar Tree silicone molds.

This is mostly just two products put together, both found readily on etsy.com
Solid Shampoo
https://www.etsy.com/search?q=solid+...elevant&page=1
Lotion stick
https://www.etsy.com/search?q=lotion%20stick
I'd wager if you found a seller which does solid shampoo and lotion sticks, messaging them and asking for a custom batch of "shampoo sticks" would get you the product in less than 4 months.
Soap sticks are also available and this seller has refills

https://www.etsy.com/listing/6069695...?ref=related-1
Or chapstick size
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1009032..._home_active_1
As with most sellers on etsy.com, if you have something specific in mind, message them and ask.
I also see sellers who have cut bar soaps/shampoos into smaller slivers which could be easily put into a small container. It is easier to cut when "fresh" or mold it smaller from the start, depending on curing cycles.
The Lush bars I had could only be sealed after it had dried out a bit or I'd end up with a slightly slimy bar adhered to the bottom of the tin. More prying fun if it dried that way. If I were to buy the combo again (which I won't as the sulfates dried out my scalp) then I'd put some dots or something inside the lids to prevent strong adhesion.
Solid shampoo usually isn't that expensive to make. Neither is picking up a batch of similar containers without the suction cup.
