20" or 21" - personal experience
Hi. I am going on a trip around the world in November. I'd like to be able to do it with a 21" carry-on. Does anyone have experience with these airlines not allowing a 21" carry-on? (I'm flying on all of them)
Aitalia
El Al
Czech Airlines
Japan Air
Hong Kong Express
Thanks!

At least some of those airlines have tight weight limits. (8kg) Weight will be an issue before space will be. Obligatory plug for wheel less soft bag, or the very light roller bags if you insist on wheels. I can't comment on weight limit enforcement, but wheel less carryons are less likely to trigger closer looks.

If you want wheels, how about the Eagle Creek Activate Wheeled Backpack 21:
21 x 14 x 8.5 and weighs 5.5 lbs.

But going without wheels will give you more options.

Thanks, that bag is a bit pricey at $200. What do you think of the 21" Athalon Hybrid?
