I have a Baggallini trifold job with a built-in hanger and a fourth pocket that snaps on and off. It's not the smallest thing you can get, but it comes in bright colors (which I prefer in the interests of not overlooking it when packing). The top and bottom pockets and the snap-in one are all full-width; the middle one is divided in two. All have zippered closures and transparent plastic fronts, so it's very easy to see what's in them and (for me) everything has its assigned place: http://www.amazon.com/Baggallini-Lug.../dp/B008XFJ0C8

(I see they call it a cosmetic bag; I don't have cosmetics but use it for the various things one uses in a bathroom). I use the snap-on pocket for stationery (envelopes, address labels, packing tape strips) and stray electronic items I don't need in transit.)

I forgot: there's also a full-length pocket on the rear side. I use it to stash receipts.

I used to use the Eagle Creek. Since I've abandoned wheels, and want to lighten everything, I've upgraded to a Sea to Summit TravellingLight Hanging Toiletry Bag. I have both the large and small. Both are very light and high quality. I found the small to be a bit to small for longer trips.

I am getting a little tired of the shape of my dopp style bag (hard to find a place to pack it) + to have access to a 3-1-1 bag.

The ebags Pack-it-Flat Toiletry Kit looks really easy to pack. Can anyone compare it to the eagle creek wallaby or the Tom bihn Spiff kit deluxe? I am primarily wondering about usability and convenience.

Second, how are you incorporating 3-1-1? It's rare i dont get precheck, but i fear the off chance i wont and my toiletries will be at the bottom of my bag.

I have the eBags flat bag, and love it. It spreads things out instead of having a big lump.

That said, I use the flat pack when checking. When carrying on I have all toiletries in a ziplock bag in my computer bag, so I don't have to open my hardside carryon if I have to pull stuff out.
So far, I've never had to pull out the bag.

jalm1: I travel with very few liquids, but those few I keep in a transparent zippered bag I stow in my laptop/personal item bag and take out when I take out my laptop at security.

I use a Wally Bag. It has a good amount of storage and is about the size of a packing cube.

I wholeheartedly agree and endorse the LL Bean -- I have two (large and small) and have used them extensively for years.
