Most backpacks can be carried by the top handle.

I use a Tumi T-Pass backpack and I think it's businesslike and professional.

I'd recommend ebags.com so you can check laptop dimensions of what laptops are guaranteed to fit in what bags, also tend to have pretty detailed customer feedback on a lot of popular bags.

I personally use a High Sierra Stretch that works very well for college.
