Rolling duffel bag or full suitcase?

I finally have gotten around to replacing my business travel luggage and am ready to upgrade. Currently I have been using a rolling duffel, a backpack, and a garment back. I always check the duffel. So far this has treated me well. But I feel as if I may be missing something here.

When I travel I regularly travel for 5-6 days and it is not comment to throw in a weekend on top of that, so up to 7-9 days at a time is not uncommon. I need to have dress clothes for every business day, plus gym clothes, plus out and about clothes for when I go check out the town that I am working in. Plus I figure at least 3 pairs of shoes. 2 to go with my biz clothes (1 black, 1 brown pair). So obviously I am not a light packer. In my duffell goes everything that is not my dress clothes. All of my dress clothes go in my garment bag which I carry on with me. I also carry a backpack which carries all my travel gear. Laptop, ipad, books, cables, pillow, etc.

Can anybody comment on their experience with the difference between a regular suitcase and a large duffel bag? I want to upgrade, and have a reason to spend the money and upgrade (7 plane tix already booked between now and end of April) but sort of stuck on what to get but rather than being stuck on brand am stuck on rolling duffel vs full on suitcase.

I have switched from using 24-25" upright to using a rolling duffel for heavy long trips just like you described. I'm currently having success using the Briggs and Riley
27" Dual Compartment Wheeled Duffle-Series 200
TUD227 (Transcend)
It is a very well constructed bag that has a lifetime warranty. I've recently discussed it in the forums here. One downfall that i have not experienced (another FTer posted about the 1st generation of this bag) is that if you connect another bag and make a trolley it can get tippy from side to side. I have not hooked any other bag to the front of it so i can't tell you if this is the case in the most current models. It holds a ton and does it well. I'm impressed with this bag
