If you are up for non-fiction, I recommend Hard Landings by Thomas Petzinger. A study of the airline culture, it reads a lot more like a soap opera than a business study. It is not really up to date, but from a historical perspective it is pretty easy and fun reading.

Up in the Air-- Walter Kirn
Book is quite different from the film.

I'm just about finished Up in the Air, interesting read. I have yet to see the film. From the commercials, the film sure looks different from the book.

I'll second that. It's a great study of airline business culture -- fascinating reading. It is a little dated though -- it dwells on the collapse of People Express, the rise of yield management dynamics, etc. and the great personalities of the '80s like Don Burr and Bob Crandall.

I'll second just about anything by John J. Nance - but Phoenix Rising is still my favorite of his.

The service manual of any legacy US carrier. Pure work of fiction.
