Saw info about a Bolero carry-on and I see that unlike most shell luggage, this one has an external pocket. My issue has always been not wanting to have to open the whole thing to take out my laptop.
Any experience with this piece? Also, I know that intra-European flights only allow smaller carry-ons. Would this qualify or would it have to be checked.
Thanks. BTW, go to wwwcsnstores.com and it seems they discount almost all of them.

As for carry-on, there is a 2 wheel IATA Carry On in this series (Item# 861.52) which is the standard international carry on size.

I hope I´m not hijacking this thread. I am seriously considering the purchase of a Rimowa 29" Salsa Deluxe. On a recent trip to the Far East I found that I needed an extra piece of luggage due to a shopping overdose. I picked up a cheap Polycarbonate bag in a mall after the salesperson demonstrated its strength by standing on top of it. I love how light the luggage is. Ergo my choice of the Salsa Deluxe. Has anyone bought one? If so, how do you like it?

any feedback from people who have ordered from Koffer24?
I'm considering ordering a Classic Flight Topas. It comes out to about $530 with the current exchange rate shipped versus $780 (plus 10% tax here in LA) at the Rimowa flagship store here.
How long does it take to get the items and is there customs/duties considerations? If they're not so major, that's around the same price as the Salsa Deluxe I was looking at.

I ordered my topas 30 from Koffer back in November. It took roughly 10 business days from date of order to arive as it was out of stock for a few days.
No customs needed to be paid and it was forwarded by USPS from DHL once it reached the USA.
It actually seemed to sit in customs longer than it actually took to ship.

I have a couple of Bolero luggage pieces that I use for business on a regular basis. One is the Notebook, and the other a 2 wheeled carry-on, both from the Lufthansa store.
The Bolero fabric is quite robust, and the zippers strong. Between the two, one can add a few kilos of extra items without opening the actual bag. The design is convenient for identification items, pens, gulps magazines, Ipods, headsets, glasses, etc. All can be secured with a small supplied Rimowa lock.
It should be noted that the Bolero items work well with other Rimowa models. On long business trips I mix the Notebook with the 32 Reisekoffer/Sports trunk, as the Notebook cover slips right over the extension handle. Given the 4 wheels on the trunk, the combination moves lightly as one unit over a flat surface. Despite rain or snow, nothing has ever been wet or damp inside.
In 6 trips to South America (Brasil), 9x here in Europe, 4x North America, I have picked up 2 scuff marks, which clean off with a Kitchen degreaser spray & wipe off. No dents, no tears, no broken zippers, no loose threads. Never a problem using the supplied TSA lock.
I have been told by Rimowa that the polycarbonat Salsa line is actually manufactured in Canada. The Alu units I have are clearly German made, as perhaps the Bolero units.
I hope this is helpful.

Hi, can you give me the location and phone number of your friend's place? thanks. I recently got ripped off by dasbags in the states.
I finally bought my limbo from my friend who's a Rimowa dealer today.
He gave me an excellent deal, far lower than any web price or even from Rimowa store prices in Asia which are traditionally lower.
If anyone in Canada and particularly in YYZ is thinking of getting one of these cases, do PM me and I will forward you the address for my friend's shop where I'm sure he will beat any price you can find. For what it's worth, he is the largest Rimowa dealer in Canada and also carries Briggs and many other brands including Tumi etc. but he (again) reiterated that Rimowa is simply the best you can get, if you can afford it.
My next purchase is the Rimowa Bolero Laptop bag. This will replace my trusty Victorinox. The Bolero's advantage is the hard sided middle skeleton which is extremely effective in protecting electronics and laptops.
