Travelpro Warranty Replacement?

Hi all. The bottom seam of my Travelpro Platinum 2 carry-on began to unstitch so I contacted TP. I requested that I send the case to them as the closest repair center was not very convenient. The rep was very nice and gave me an RMA.

After inquiring with them as to the status, TP stated it could not be repaired and offered a Crew 7 carry-on as a replacement. I feel they should offer me the Platinum 6 instead, but is that expecting too much? I've seen the recent posts re. their warranty practices and am wondering if I should just accept any replacement offer. Thanks in advance!

Not so sure here. It is a bag that is four generations further. In theory that should mean that it is also much better. Kind of like a BMW 3 series of today being as performing as a 5 series of ten years ago. On the other hand, I find that the Plat6 is not as good as the Plat5.

And then I would really look at the Crew7 and the Plat6 and see which bag is the best for your needs. I'd negotiate based on that. Still getting a brand new bag as a replacement for a bag that is several years old and out of which you have probably gotten good use is pretty nice. The thing is if they would continue an equal for equal exchange and also continue the warranty, they would really lose a ton of money. I mean the Plat series is a great deal as is. If you got a Plat6 now and then a brand new Plat11 in eight years you would have gotten three top line bags over 15-20 for $200 or so. That might be expecting a bit much.
