I was was wondering what that plane was since it wasn't one of the two VC-25As (tail numbers 28000 and 29000) that almost always act as AFO. Surprised they don't just have the other VC-25A stationed near by but I maybe in case of an attack on the US the E-4B would be a better option?

FYI that is not Air Force One (usually a VC-25A) but an E-4B Advanced Airborne Command Post, otherwise known as the "Doomsday Plane"

The battle staff comprises force status controllers (3), emergency action controllers, operations controller, communications controller, intelligence planners (4), operations planners (4), logistic planners (4), chief of battle staff, airborne launch system officers (2), weather officer, reconnaissance planner, damage assessment officer and administrators (2), a total of 26; and communications operators (5), radio maintenance men (5), and switchboard operators (2), a total of 15. The Looking Glass missions were commanded by a general officer with two staff officers, while the National Airborne Operations Center (NAOC) may rendezvous and embark a member of the National Command Authority (NCA) from an undisclosed location. There are at least 48 crew aboard any E-4B mission.

Interesting. I must admit I assumed all of that stuff would happen on VC-25.
I wonder how much of that 'battle staff' has now been superseded by technology? Back when this aircraft was being developed (which was probably quite a while ago since it's based on the 742), technology was probably very different to what we have now. I assume, for example, that this plane needs a flight engineer being pre-744.
